Abu Faisal Tushar led an operation to destroy the cannabis field in Biharpara area under Datkupia Army Camp of the upazila. Army sources said that during the operation, they found about 40 percent of the cannabis fields there. It is learned that Dilip Kumar Chakma (50), son of Anil Kumar Chakma of local Biharpara and owner of the land was involved in cannabis cultivation. He is a resident of Biharpara area. Cannabis farmer Dilip Kumar Chakma fled after receiving the news of the operation. Maj. Md. Abu Faisal Tushar, Deputy Commander of Mahalchhari Zone, said that besides the security of the hill-Bengali people living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the army's campaign to prevent the deadly drug along with socio-economic development of the people of the region would continue in future also. He further said that some self-interested tribal drug dealers have been cultivating cannabis in remote areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts for a long time with the help of regional armed terrorist organizations. And the members of the army are working to prevent these drug traffickers as well as to destroy the drugs and discourage the locals from producing drugs.
