3 mill owners fined for excess paddy stocks

Chapainawabganj Correspondent: The district food department has fined three mill owners Tk 1 lakh 60 thousand for excess rice stocks in Chapainawabganj. On Sunday (June 5) from noon to afternoon, they conducted three joint operations in Atahar and Jamtala areas of the district headquarters. It is learned that Grameen Agro Siddha Rice Unit has been fined Tk 120,000 and Grameen Agro Atab Rice Unit has been fined Tk 20,000. The owner of these two companies is Aminul Islam Mahidur. And Badsha, the owner of Reza & Rice Mill, was fined Rs 30,000. District Magistrate Executive Magistrate Md. Ruhul Amin, SM Ashish Momtaz and Mithun Mitra were present on the occasion. District Food Regulatory Officer Mahmudur Hasan said the owners of three mills have been fined Tk 160,000 for conducting raids against paddy stocks. The three owners have also been directed to market the surplus paddy within three days at a fair price. He further said that the campaign against stockpiling of paddy and rice would continue.
