Meeting of the Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce with the tea industry stakeholders

Tentulia (Panchagarh) Correspondent: An exchange meeting was held with the tea industry stakeholders in Tentulia, Panchagarh. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kanti Ghosh was present as the chief guest at the Berang Complex of Dakbanglo Picnic Corner on Saturday afternoon under the patronage of Upazila Administration organized by Bangladesh Tea Board. At the beginning of the meeting, the chief scientific officer of the Bangladesh Tea Board Panchagarh regional office. Shamim Al Mamun presented a two-page presentation on a bud's mobile app through a multi-projector, capturing images of the Panchagarh tea industry. Shalbahan UP Chairman Ashraful Islam, Tea Farmer Mokhlesur Rahman, Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Yasin Ali Mandal, Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Chairman Amirul Islam, Tentulia Upazila Chairman Kazi Mahmudur Rahman Dablu spoke as special guests in the presidency of Upazila Executive Officer Sohag Chandra Saha. Tea Factory MD Niaz Chishti and Shahirul Islam Chowdhury of North Bengal Green Agro. Also present at the time were public representatives, politicians, journalists and leaders of small tea growers' organizations, tea factory owners association. During the exchange of views, the owners of the tea gardens raised the issue of incurring huge losses due to non-availability of tea leaves in Panchagarh at present. He also asked for strengthening the demand for setting up a third tea auction center in Panchagarh.
