Gaffar Chowdhury bids farewell with full respect

News Desk: The body of Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, the author of the immortal song 'Ekushey February painted in my brother's blood' associated with the memory of eminent journalist, columnist and language movement, will arrive in Dhaka today (Saturday, May 26). Eminent journalist and columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury will be buried at Mirpur Shaheed Buddhijibi Cemetery this afternoon.

The body will arrive at Shahjalal International Airport at 11 a.m. on a Bangladesh Biman flight under the supervision of Bangladesh High Commission London. Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque will receive the body on behalf of the government there. This information was given in a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday. The body will be taken to the central Shaheed Minar from the airport. The body will be kept there from 1pm to 3pm to pay homage to the Guard of Honor and people of all walks of life. Janaza will be held at Dhaka University Mosque at 3:30 pm. The body will be taken to the National Press Club at 4 pm. After paying homage, the body will be taken to the Martyred Intellectual Cemetery in Mirpur. According to Gaffar Chowdhury's last wish, his body will be buried next to his wife's grave at 5.30 pm.

Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury died on 19 May in a London hospital. His first janaza was held on May 20 at the Bricklane Mosque in England. Besides, people from all walks of life paid homage to him at the central Shaheed Minar in Altab Ali Park.
