News Desk: Shahjahan Khan, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Liberation War and presidium member of the Awami League, has said that the BNP is conspiring to dampen the joy of the people at the inauguration of the Padma Bridge. He said people across the country would rejoice on the opening day of the Padma Bridge.

The BNP is conspiring to fade that joy. As part of this, Chhatra Dal is creating an unstable environment in Dhaka University, which has been resisted by the ordinary students of Dhaka University. They are also blaming Chhatra League for this, which is not correct. He was speaking to reporters at Lalmonirhat Circuit House on Saturday (May 26) at noon. Shahjahan Khan said, we have stopped extortion in the transport sector. The administration has been directed to arrest the extortionists. He further said that at the district level, the workers are collecting Rs. It's not a fundraiser, it's a cost of running a labor organization. At present, neither the workers nor the owners are involved in extortion on the roads.

Mentioning that extortion is also taking place in the name of lease from the roads of different municipalities and city corporations of the country, the former minister said, "We have information that levy is being levied in the name of lease of three to five thousand rupees per car on ferries in BIWTA seaports." I call on the government to be strict in stopping these extortions. Later, Shahjahan Khan took part in the extended meeting of the district Awami League at the district council auditorium at around 2.30 pm.
