Awami League candidate elected unopposed as Upazila Vice Chairman in Chapainawabganj

Faruk Hossain, Chapainawabganj: Tasikul Alam Babul has been elected unopposed as the Vice Chairman of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Parishad. On Thursday (May 26) afternoon, another candidate, Kashed Ali Master, withdrew his nomination papers and was elected unopposed. Tasikul Alam Babul, elected unopposed, is the vice-president of Sadar Upazila Juba League. Earlier on Thursday afternoon, another candidate Kashed Ali himself announced his withdrawal at the district Awami League office. He later withdrew his nomination papers at the election office. As a result, Tasikul Alam Babul is now the sole candidate. District Election Officer Motawakkil Rahman confirmed the matter. He said a total of 3 candidates submitted nomination papers but one was rejected. Today (Thursday) a person named Kashed Ali has withdrawn his nomination. As a result, Tasikul Alam Babul is going to be elected without contest. He said all preparations for the June 15 elections had been completed. Kashed Ali said at the district A-League office that the by-election for the post of vice chairman of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila will be held on June 15. A total of 3 people including me submitted nomination papers for that post. Since one of the nomination papers was rejected, the two of us supported the Awami League. As per the party decision of Awami League, I withdrew my nomination. Abdul Wadud, general secretary of the district Awami League, said that Tosikul and Kashed of the Awami League had a total of two candidates in the Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Parishad elections. One of them (Kashed) withdrew his nomination in the interest of the party. He declared Tasikul Alam Babul as the sole candidate of Awami League. Also present were District Awami League General Secretary Abdul Wadud, District Council Administrator Ashraful Islam, Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Awami League President Azizur Rahman and General Secretary Nazrul Islam, Chapainawabganj Municipal Awami League President Abdul Jalil District Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Md Monirul Islam and others. . According to the Election Office, the last day for submission of nomination papers to the Returning and Assistant Returning Officers was May 16, according to the schedule. Note, Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman. When Nazrul Islam resigned to contest for the post of mayor in the last municipal elections, the Election Commission declared the post vacant.
