Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Detective Lalbagh Division has arrested a businessman with 23,650 counterfeit Naproxen Plus tablets from Bangshal Thana area of the capital. Nazimul Islam, owner of Islam Drugs, was arrested.
Kotwali Zonal Team of Detective Lalbagh Division arrested him from Mitford area of Bangshal Police Station on Monday night (May 23).
DB Lalbagh Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police led the operation. Saiful Alam Mujahid said the operation was carried out on the basis of information on stockpiling and sale of counterfeit drugs in the Islam Drugs godown at 57 Mitford Bhandari Medicine Market in Bangshal police station.
He added that 23,650 counterfeit Naproxen Plus tablets were seized from the godown during the operation and Nazimul, owner of Islam Drugs, was arrested.
Based on the information obtained from the initial interrogation. Saiful Alam Mujahid said the arrested Nazimul stored counterfeit drugs in his godown for sale.
A case filed against the arrested Nazimul at Bangshal police station has been sent to court on Tuesday (May 24).
