News Desk: The Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined several companies for crimes against the interests of consumers, including selling oil at high prices in the capital's Sutrapur.

The fine was imposed on Tuesday (May 24) during a surveillance operation at Sutrapur Bazar under Sutrapur police station.

During the operation, a large quantity of bottled soybean oil at the previous price was found in stock at the Messrs. Fazlu store and they were seen selling at the current price. Also the color of the cloth (industrial color) is seen to be sold as food color. The company was fined one lakh rupees for these offenses. At the same time soybean oil is sold at earlier prices among the interested buyers present.

In the same market, Messrs. Adnan Arafat's store was seen selling fabric dyes as food dyes. The company was fined one lakh rupees for this crime.

Dyes used in industrial color fabrics. However, due to its low cost, it is used in making chicken fry, chicken grill, jorda, chicken biryani, cakes, chocolate, ice cream, chanachur and other food items, which are harmful to health. It was also informed that such campaigns will continue in the public interest.
