The shop was burnt down in the fire at Kaliakair

Md. Moniruzzaman, Kaliakair (Gazipur): Traders claim that 6 business establishments have been burnt to ashes in the devastating fire at Baraibari Bazaar in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur. According to the fire service and local sources, the fire started from a shop in Baraibari market on Friday morning. Local traders rushed to the spot and tried to extinguish the fire. After they failed to report to the fire service, 2 units from Kaliakair Fire Station rushed to the spot and started controlling the fire. After trying for about half an hour, they were able to put out the fire. 6 shops including hotels were reduced to ashes. Abu Tayeb Mridha, a local businessman, said that the fire had caused huge damage as no goods could be recovered from the shops. Sources at the fire service station could not immediately be reached for comment.
