For the first time in Tentulia, ‘Black Rice’ is cultivated

SK Doel, Tentulia (Panchagarh): For the first time, black rice is being cultivated in Tentulia. This paddy is cultivated by Sadekul Islam Susham, a young farmer from Islambagh area under Tirnihat UP. He is the son of Ferdous Kamal of that village. He has a master's degree in economics from Dhaka College and is currently looking after and cultivating his father's land. He collected the seeds of this black money from Gazipur in Dhaka through research on YouTube and social media. Local farmers are also taking initiative to cultivate this paddy as the yield is good and expensive. Many people are crowding every day to see this paddy. Regarding the cultivation of Black Rice, Sadequl Islam Susham said that during his coronation he returned home from Dhaka and cultivated experimental Black Rice variety of paddy on his 60 acres of land. He planted this paddy at the end of January this year. In just 3 months, each tree has yielded a large amount of fruit. The threshing will start in a few days. As the rice looks black, so does the rice. Sushma further said that ten types of black paddy are cultivated in Bangladesh. However, I have cultivated three types of paddy. There is a possibility of 16/17 maunds of paddy per bigha. If the expected price and demand of this rice, I will further increase the cultivation of black rice in the coming year. Because, there is no extra risk and cost in cultivating this paddy. It is cultivated like ordinary paddy but does not require extra fertilizer or water. No separate care is required. This rice is more expensive as it is different from other rice. The young man is dreaming of selling paddy worth lakhs of rupees on 2 bighas of land. After hearing about the benefits of this paddy, many farmers have asked him to collect seeds. According to some local farmers, we did not know about this paddy. But I heard. Black paddy is being cultivated in Islambagh area, we know about its cultivation and production from a university student. He surprised everyone in the area. Every day visitors are flocking to see this black paddy. The yield has been good, if the price of paddy is the same, we will also take initiative to cultivate this paddy. Jahangir Alam, agriculture officer of the upazila, said that black rice was the first for Tentulia area. Paddy is a special species of black rice. The color of rice is dark black and when cooked it usually turns dark purple. It contains anthocyanins which weigh more than other colored rice. And there are benefits. Beneficial for various diseases including cancer, diabetes, heart disease. Due to which Black Rice is currently being considered as the new super food of the world. The market price of this rice is much higher in Bangladesh. As a result, farmers can benefit more by cultivating black rice. I think if we can produce more rice, it will play a positive role in the agricultural economy.
