Robbery in Dhaka's Kachukhet jewellery shops: 300 bhories of gold, Tk 5 lakh taken away

News Desk: Miscreants took away 300 bhories of gold and money in a daring robbery in two jewellery shops of city’s Kachukhet area Friday night.

It is learnt that the robbery took place in two jewellery shops of the Rajanigandha Tower.

Abul Kalam Bhuiyan, owner of two shops, said the robbers took away 300 bhories of gold, some diamond items and Tk 5 lakh.

He also claimed that total loss due to the robbery stands at Tk 2.5 crore.

The robbers entered the two shops breaking keys, he added.

Dewan Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Bhasantec Police Station, confirmed the incident. “Robbery was committed in two jewellery shops in Rajanigandha Tower. Police is holding investigation. We will appear with further details later.”

Earlier, on December 18 last year, robbers took away 600 bhories of gold ornaments and other valuables from two jewellery shops at Karnaphuli Garden City Shopping Mall in Dhaka.
