The cold wave started in the north at the beginning of Magh, the temperature will decrease further

News Desk: After the rain, mild cold wave has started in two northern districts of the country. Temperatures are dropping rapidly in other parts of the country as well. Therefore, the cold wave may increase further, said the Meteorological Department.

Towards the end of Poush, the winter had subsided a lot for some time. It started raining on January 11. The light rain continued for several days in different parts of the country including the capital.

It is getting colder in Dhaka than last night. Winter has also been reported in other parts of the country. Now the temperature has come down and the cold wave has brought Magh, the second month of winter. Sunday (January 18) is the 2nd day of Magh.

There have been three previous cold spells this winter. However, none of them lasted more than two days, according to the Meteorological Department.

There was light rain in different parts of Khulna and Barisal divisions in 24 hours from 8 am on Saturday (January 15) to 8 am on Sunday (January 18). There was little rain in Dhaka too.

Besides, 1 mm rain fell in Feni of Chittagong division, according to the Meteorological Department. Meteorologists do not see any possibility of rain at the moment.

Meteorologist said. Shahinul Islam said that a mild cold wave is prevailing in Kurigram and Panchagarh districts on Sunday morning and it may continue. This cold wave may spread to the rest of Rangpur division and some areas of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.

In the morning, the lowest temperature of the country was recorded at Tentulia in Panchagarh, 7.9 degrees Celsius. Besides, the minimum temperature at Rajarhat in Kurigram was 9.5 degrees Celsius. Within a day, the minimum temperature in Dhaka dropped from 16.2 degrees Celsius to 15.6 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Shahinul Islam also said that night temperature may decrease by 1 to 2 degree Celsius and day temperature may increase by 1 to 2 degree Celsius in the next 24 hours.

In the next 24 hours forecast from 9 am on Sunday, the Meteorological Department said that the weather across the country may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate fog can fall anywhere in the country from midnight to morning.

The extension of the sub-continental high pressure zone is located in West Bengal and adjoining areas. The meteorological department also said that the normal light pressure of the season is located in the South Bay.
