News Desk: One person was injured in a collision between an unidentified vehicle and a hearse on the Bangabandhu Bridge. This has created a traffic jam in the 13 km area of the highway from Bangabandhu Bridge East to Elenga in Tangail.

The accident took place near Pillar No. 27 of Bangabandhu Bridge around 8:30 am on Friday (January 14). However, traffic was light at this time, said Elenga Highway Incharge Yasser Arafat. Meanwhile, due to long traffic jam on the highway, Dhaka-bound transports are plying on the Bhunapur-Tangail regional road from Bangabandhu Bridge East as an alternative. Elenga Highway Police in-charge Yasir Arafat said there had been traffic jams on the highway in the western part of Sirajganj since early morning. The vehicles have been moving slowly.

The driver was also injured when another unidentified vehicle hit the Dhaka-bound ambulance from behind near Pillar No. 27 on the bridge in the morning. As a result, the traffic on the Dhaka-bound lane was stopped. He added that toll collection on the bridge was stopped for some time.

After the vehicle damaged in the accident was removed, the traffic resumed. Meanwhile, traffic jams were created on the highways on both sides of the bridge.
