Another 705 Rohingyas were shifted to Bhasanchar

News Desk: 705 more Rohingyas have come to Noakhali's Bhasanchar in the ninth step from Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar. They reached Bhasanchar on Thursday (January 6) at half past two in three navy ships. With this, the number of Rohingya citizens of Myanmar now stands at 19,072 in the shelter center of Bhasanchar.

Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Deputy Secretary) Moazzem Hossain, who is in charge of the Bhasanchar Rohingya camp, confirmed the matter. He said the newly arrived Rohingyas have been accommodated in clusters 69, 65 and 6. Besides, 51 people came from Cox's Bazar and 41 people went to Cox's Bazar from Bhasanchar, they also returned on the same ship, the official said.

Under the rehabilitation project of Rohingyas in Bhasanchar, Noakhali, one thousand 742 people in the first phase on December 4, 2020, one thousand 604 people in the second phase on December 29, three thousand 242 people in the third phase on January 29 and 30 this year, three thousand 17 people in the fourth phase on February 14 and 15, In the fifth phase, 4,021 Rohingyas were transferred on March 3 and 4, in the sixth phase, 4,382 Rohingyas were transferred on April 1 and 2, in the seventh phase, on November 25, 369 people and in the eighth phase, 552 Rohingyas were transferred to Bhasanchar.

In May last year, 307 Rohingyas trying to enter Malaysia illegally were rescued from the sea and taken to Bhasanchar.
