News Desk: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the current crisis in the country is not a crisis of formation of Election Commission (EC) or law making crisis. The main crisis is what kind of government will be during the election?

He made the remarks to reporters after laying a wreath at the tomb of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on Saturday (January 1) on the occasion of the 43rd founding anniversary of the nationalist Chhatra Dal.

At around 10:15 am, 50 to 60 leaders and activists led by Chhatra Dal president Fazlur Rahman Khokon and general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamle came to Ziaur Rahman's graveyard at Chanandrima Udyan in the capital. Leaders and activists of the organization chanted slogans including the release of Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Shortly afterwards, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came. He laid a wreath and offered prayers.

Regarding the President's dialogue, Fakhrul said, "We consider this dialogue meaningless." The current political crisis is not a crisis of forming an election commission or a crisis of making laws. What kind of government will be during the election? That is the main crisis. If there is an Awami League government then that election cannot be of any value. There can be no money. Of course, what we have said is that there must be a neutral, non-partisan government during the election period. Who will form an election commission impartially and a neutral election will be held under their management.

Welcoming the English New Year, the BNP Secretary General said, "I am wishing the people a Happy New Year on behalf of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tareq Rahman." We hope that in this New Year the people will be free, democracy will be free, the country's leader Khaleda Zia will be released and we will be able to establish a people's government in the country.

Expressing hope for Chhatra Dal, he said that Khaleda Zia, the independent and uncompromising leader of democracy in Bangladesh, is on the verge of death. At that time, the leaders of Chhatra Dal have come today to lay wreaths at the grave of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. Leaders and activists took oath after handing over wreaths and prayers. The movement for the release of the country's leader and his treatment abroad will be further accelerated.
