Mainikganj correspondent: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Khaleda Zia is very ill, her doctors say it is necessary to give her better treatment, but this government is not allowing her to go abroad. Everything they say is a lie and a hoax. It is clear in section 401 of the law that Khaleda Zia can be sent abroad under that section.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was speaking as the chief guest at a rally demanding the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at the Manikganj Government Boys' High School ground on Tuesday (December 26).

The secretary general said that the leader has fought for democracy for 9 years and is still doing so. We are unfortunate nation. After the declaration of independence by martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia fled from Chittagong and came to Dhaka with her two young children. He was later captured by Pakistani forces and held captive during the war.

He further said that no bus was allowed to run in Manikganj today, but millions of people have come to this rally by overcoming various obstacles.

They are afraid of the people because they are a government without people, they are afraid of democracy. I want to say very clearly that this government is cheating, they are cheating, so there will be no solution through dialogue with the government and the President.

Mainikganj district BNP president Afroza Khan Rita presided over the rally. District BNP general secretary SA Jinnah Kabir was also present as special guest. BNP chairperson's adviser Abdus Salam and BNP organizing secretary Fazlul Haque Milon were the keynote speakers. Central and district upazila level leaders also addressed the gathering.
