News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the present government has made arrangements to deliver the subsidy money directly to the farmers. We are giving agricultural materials assistance cards to about 21 million farmers. We have arranged bank accounts for the farmers for only 10 rupees.

He was speaking at an international seminar at Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka on Saturday morning. The event was organized to celebrate 'World Food Day-2021'. The Prime Minister virtually joined the seminar from Ganobhaban.

Agriculture Minister presided over the seminar. Abdur Razzak. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim were present as special guests.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Since 1996, we have started giving agricultural loans to sharecroppers without collateral." Our goal was to reach out to bank farmers.

He added that subsidies to farmers from abroad were prohibited. But we did not listen to them. Even before coming to power in 1996, the World Bank had advised us that subsidies could not be given. We said all the countries of the world give, why don't we give.

Mentioning that the first demand of the people of the country is food, Sheikh Hasina said, we have to give food. For this we have to increase production. If no one lends, I will pay.
