Two Indian soldiers killed in clashes in Kashmir

International Desk: Two members of India's army have been killed in clashes with separatists in Jammu and Kashmir. One of them is an army officer. They were killed in a head-on clash between the two sides in Punch district on Thursday (October 14th) evening.

A statement from the army said. For the last four days, the army has been conducting operations in Punch in search of separatists. On Thursday, the army clashed with them in the forest of Punch-Rajouri. The army said in a statement that the two sides exchanged fire on Thursday evening in the Nar Khas forest in Mendhar sub-division of Punch. They came face to face with the army during the search for the separatists. One army officer and one jawan were seriously injured at the time. They were later admitted to the hospital where they died. On October 10, separatists shot dead five soldiers, including an officer, in Punch district. A search operation has been going on in the area since then. Jammu-Punch road communication has been closed.

An army spokesman said separatist shelling with the army had resumed in Punch district on Thursday evening. One JCO and one jawan were seriously injured. The search operation is still going on. It was not immediately clear if any separatists were killed.
