At least 20 people have been killed in a gun attack in Nigeria's Sokoto state. Reuters quoted local sources as saying.
It is learned that the attack took place in a market and several vehicles.
Idris Gobir, a special adviser to the minister of police in Sokoto, said armed men on motorcycles opened fire sporadically, killing several people.
A Sokoto police spokesman confirmed the attack but did not immediately say how many people were killed.
Meanwhile, Hussein Boza, a local member of parliament in Sokoto, blamed insecurity for the attack.
