LPG prices rose again

News Desk: The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), the regulator of the energy sector, has adjusted the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level in the country. In the private sector, the price of 12 kg cylinder LP gas has been increased from Tk 1,033 to Tk 1,259. As a result, the price per cylinder has gone up by Rs 226, which is the highest retail price. And the new price of LPG used in cars is 56 rupees 7 paise per liter, which was 50 rupees 57 paise earlier.

BERC announced the new price of LPG through an online press conference on Sunday.

On April 12, BERC fixed the price of LPG for the first time in the country. Since then, prices have been adjusted once a month.

He said that propane and butane, the main ingredients for making LPG, are imported from different countries. Saudi Aramco publishes the price of these two components of LPG every month. This is known as Saudi Cargo Price (CP). According to the Saudi CP, the prices of propane and butane rose from ৬৬ 80 to ৮ 800 per tonne in September and from ৫ 855 to ৭ 695 in September, respectively. This new price has been set for October considering the mix ratio 35:75.

Before announcing the price, Maqbool E Ilahi said, "Using one kg of LPG means saving 18 kg of trees. So its use needs to be increased. LPG has to be imported at a lower price. Neighboring countries are importing LPG at much lower prices.

Regarding the effective price of LPG in the market, Maqbool E Elahi said consumers need to be careful not to buy at higher prices.

LPG suppliers proposed a price hike at BERC last December. The technical evaluation committee formed by BERC evaluated their proposal. On January 14, BERC held a public hearing on LPG pricing. After that, the commission held a new public hearing last month in the face of the demands of the traders.

At the same time, it was further said that 5 and a half kg cylinder of LPG has been increased from 483 to 57 rupees, 12 kg and a half from 1 thousand 8 to 1 thousand 312 rupees, 15 kg from 1 thousand 291 to 1 thousand 574 rupees, 18 kg from 1 thousand 36 to 1. 69 thousand rupees, 18 kg increased from one thousand 549 to one thousand 6 rupees. Also 20 kg increased from 1,622 to 2,299 rupees, 22 kg increased from 1,793 to 2,309 rupees, 25 kg increased from 2,151 to 2,222 rupees, 30 kg increased from 2,573 to 3,146 rupees, 33 The price has been increased from Tk 2,841 per kg to Tk 3,462, 35 kg from Tk 3,013 to Tk 3,083 and 45 kg from Tk 3,083 to Tk 4,621.
