Corona vaccine will be given at union level from August 7: Home Minister

News Desk: Corona virus can be vaccinated only after taking the national identity card to the Union Parishad office. This facility is being launched from August 8.

The decision was taken at a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (July 27th) on the overall situation in the wake of the Corona infection. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal presided over the meeting.

After the meeting, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said, "This time we are putting more emphasis on vaccination." At the union level, I am setting up a vaccination center in the Union Parishad. From there all the people in the union, who want or need to be vaccinated, can come there and get vaccinated. We are taking advantage of this. If they bring their ID card, they will be able to vaccinate.

Since when is this facility being introduced? When asked, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, "We are starting this activity from August 8.

Responding to another question from reporters, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said those who do not have a national identity card or birth registration certificate will also be vaccinated by registering in a special system on the spot.

It is learned that the existing Extended Immunization Program (EPI) in the country will be implemented from August 6 to speed up the corona vaccination. At the village level, community clinics, union health centers, educational institutions and other temporary vaccination centers will also be used. 8 lakh people will be vaccinated every week at the rate of 6 lakh per day.

Meanwhile, after the cabinet meeting on Monday (July 26), Health Minister Zahid Malek told reporters at the Secretariat that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed to intensify the coronary vaccination program. He also directed that these activities should be started at the union and ward level. Elderly people at the ward level will be vaccinated. Elderly patients in the village are now coming to the hospital more, this number is about 75 percent. The same is true in Dhaka city. Their mortality rate is high, the infection rate is 90 percent.

"That's why we will start vaccination activities at ward, union and upazila level soon," he said.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 21 crore doses of vaccine will come to the country by early 2022. Agreements have already been reached to bring in 30 million doses of Chinese synopharm, 30 million doses of astrageneca, 70 million doses of Covax and 70 million doses of Johnson & Johnson.
