01 Arrested in Chittagong Hill Tracts with opium worth Tk 3.5 crore

Mohammad Tareq, Chittagong District Representative: Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban areas are known as home-made distilleries in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Besides thousands of liters of domestic liquor, the administration has found different drugs this time. According to RAB-7 Chittagong, it was learned through secret news that some drug dealers were staying in Thanchi Micro Stand, Thanchi Bazar under Thanchi Police Station under Thanchi Police Station in Bandarban Hill District to buy and sell opium.

On the basis of this information, RAB-6, Chittagong and 36 Battalion (BGB) conducted a joint operation on March 09, 2021, at 14:10 hours. Mro, Sang-Rengbapara, Ward No. 01, Tindu Union No. 02, Thanchi-Thanchi, District-Bandarban. According to the interrogation of the arrested accused in front of the witnesses who were present, 03 kg 600 gm of opium was found hidden in a plastic bag in his custody. The accused was also interrogated and it was learned that he had been processing the narcotic drug opium in remote hilly areas for a long time and selling it to wholesale drug dealers.

The estimated value of the recovered drugs is 03 crores 50 lakh, Taka. The arrested accused and the recovered drugs have been handed over to Thanchi Police Station in Bandarban Hill District for further legal action.
