Cabinet mourns the death of actor ATM Shamsuzzaman

News Desk: The cabinet has expressed grief over the death of actor ATM Shamsuzzaman. A condolence motion was moved at a virtual cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (February 22nd).

From the Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister and Ministers from the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat attended the meeting via video conference. After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told a press briefing at the Secretariat that a condolence motion would be brought.

"The cabinet has accepted the condolence motion on the death of ATM Shamsuzzaman," he said. Ekushey Medal winner ATM Shamsuzzaman breathed his last at his residence in Sutrapur around 9 am on Saturday (February 20). He was 80 years old at the time of his death.

ATM Shamsuzzaman was born on 10 September 1941 at Nanabari in Daulatpur, Noakhali. In 1981, he started his career as an assistant director in director Udayan Chowdhury's 'Bisakanya'. He wrote the first story and screenplay for the movie 'Jalchhabi'.
