Chatmohar (Pabna) Correspondent: The common people of 6 villages in Pabna's Chatmohar upazila have suffered due to non-paving of one kilometer of unpaved road from Gunaigachha main road to Hialdah. Large potholes have been created in this rural road. The road is covered with mud and mud. The movement of vehicles is far away, it has become difficult to move on foot. Year after year, the locals came to the people's representatives demanding paving of the road, but nothing came of it except assurances. This one kilometer of unpaved road is now a 'thorn in the side' for the people of the area!

It has been learned on the spot that the easiest and main way to travel from Gunaigachha to Hialdah village is not only by the people of Hialdah village, but also by the people of several villages including Bri-Guakhara, Daripara, Shalika, Natunpara, Shibakhali. Once upon a time the whole road was raw. In response to the demand of the locals, in the financial year 2015-16, the Upazila Revenue Development Fund and later from the funds of the District Council, about two kilometers of road from Barashalika to HBP was made HBP. But the rest remains raw.

When it rains in the rainy season, the road is full of mud. Cannot enter any kind of vehicle. There is no other way but to walk. Especially the sick patient has to get a lot of speed to get to and from the hospital. Not just patients, because of the road, the owners of cattle and poultry farms in a few nearby villages sell milk and eggs at low prices to the complainants sitting in the village. They are counting the losses so financially. More than 20,000 commuters are said to be in dire straits, according to locals.

Amin Uddin, an old man from Hialdah village, said that everyone has to travel through mud with great difficulty. Going to the hospital with a sick patient is the same as going to the land of the moon! Even seeing our misery, the people's representatives do not regain consciousness. This road is now a thorn in our side. A van driver named Santosh Mollah said, how much more trouble? I drive the van and run the family. When it rains, people on this road do not travel. So rent is not available. No one understands our suffering. A woman named Manjuara Khatun told the Daily Third Dimension that leaders talk of paving the way before the vote. We just vote. But the road is no more.

Nurul Islam, chairman of Gunaigachha Inion Parishad, said the HBP of the road has been done in two steps. However, the people of the area are really suffering for the remaining one kilometer of unpaved roads. But I am trying to do the rest. Hopefully it will be possible to build the road before the next vote. Asked about this, Upazila Engineer Raju Ahmed said that the rural road is not gazetted by LGED. That is why it has fallen like this. However, the road can be made by thinking about the suffering of the locals. However, it will require the permission of the higher authorities.
