Formation of committee to list martyred intellectuals

News Desk: The government has formed a verification-selection committee with researchers, heroic freedom fighters and officials of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to prepare a list of martyred intellectuals.

A notification has been issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on November 19. This information has been given in the press release of the ministry on Monday (November 23).

Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Tapan Kanti Ghosh has been made the chairman of this committee. Additional Secretary of the Ministry is a member of the committee. Shahidul Haque Bhoona. Deputy Secretary Rathindra Nath Dutt will be the member-secretary of the committee.

The research members of the committee include Professor Muntasir Mamun of Dhaka University, Shahriar Kabir, President of the Killer Brokers Eradication Committee, Professor Mezbah Kamal of Dhaka University, Trustee of Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Chowdhury Shahid Quader, Director of National Antidote and Social Medical Institute (NIPSUM) And Gazi Salauddin, a researcher at the Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum.

Among the members of Bir Muktijoddha are filmmaker and cultural personality Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu, Muktijoddha and researcher Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Sajjad Zaheer (Bir Pratik).

According to the circular, the committee will work to verify the list of names of martyred intellectuals and provide opinions including the names of martyred intellectuals, father's name and address. The committee will determine the definition of who among the martyrs of the liberation war will be included as martyred intellectuals.

He will prepare a list of martyred intellectuals by checking and sorting the information obtained from various research books, magazine cutting, TV reports and other sources. Besides, the committee will check and sort the applications of persons / individuals from various ministries / divisions / agencies / districts / upazilas and other sources and will recommend for inclusion in the list of martyred intellectuals.
