Fire at Chelopara railway settlement in Bogra: District administration stands by the victims

Bogra Correspondent: 14 houses including 10 houses of brave freedom fighter Moslem Uddin and his 8 children were burnt down in a fire in a slum adjacent to the railway line in Chelopara area of ​​Bogra town. The fire incident happened around 12 noon on Monday.

Although no one was injured in the fire, goods worth several lakhs including cash, gold ornaments and furniture were destroyed in the fire. Each of the 14 affected families was immediately assisted by the district administration with basic commodities including rice, dal, sugar and oil at 4 pm. Besides these, they have also been given 5 blankets each.

Apart from this, 2 buns and cash of 6 thousand taka have been given to each of the 9 most affected families. Regarding the fire, Bogra Municipality Panel Mayor Parimal Chandra Das said that around 12 noon black smoke was seen in the slums on the north side of the market.

After that, Dau Dau started burning everything with fire. However, the fire was brought under control by the local people and the fire service as soon as possible. Otherwise hundreds more houses could have been burnt. However, he did not initially know what caused the fire. He also promptly distributed food items to every family. Khandaker Abdul Jalil, Deputy Assistant Director of Bogra Fire Service, said that they received information about the fire around 12:30 noon.

After that, four units carrying water went there and extinguished the fire. Timely information could have prevented major losses. Meanwhile, while providing assistance to the victims at the Bogra District Commissioner's office in the afternoon, Bogra District Commissioner Md. Saiful Islam said that a house called 'Bir Nibas' has been constructed in Sariakandi upazila of the district long ago for the brave freedom fighter Muslim Uddin to live. But he did not live there but lived in that slum of the city. He requested him to live in his heroic abode again.

Apart from this, 5 people who do not have a house will be provided with a shelter project. He said Bogra district administration always tries to come forward quickly in such danger of common people. All the affected families have been given financial assistance in addition to food items and their further condition will also be monitored by the administration.

Bogra Deputy Director Masuma Ali Beg, Additional District Magistrate Mejbaul Karim, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Feroza Parveen, Sadar Upazila Project Implementation Officer Moniruzzaman, Bogra Municipality Panel Mayor Parimal Chandra Das, business leader Parimal Pram Rajasad and other administrations were also present while providing assistance.
